Cera2heat® is a ceramic based heat system for contact heating. This technology allows a free design of the heat circuits, which means that the power distribution can be adapted to the requirement of the specific process. For thermoforming this system allows an adapted temperature profile in the sheet or film to affect the forming process in a positive way. Areas of the sheet that have to be deformed less such as the bottom edges are heated less. This allows a homogenization of the wall thickness distribution or even a defined control of the wall thickness adapted to the specific requirements of the mold. The heating technology is realized as a so-called matrix heater. Every heater of modular heating system contains 64 individually controllable heat circuits, called heat pixels similar to a TFT screen. The modular heater also has integrated electronics for temperature control. That means it is an independent peripheral system which only needs power supply and a signal wire with the set temperature and for process data feedback to the machine or control panel. The modules with a size of 40 x 40 mm will be assembled to realize bigger areas, corresponding to the situation in the specific machine. This modular approach allows a cost-effective production of the fully-integrated heat system and an easy adaption to different applications.
